Travel Guide

Holla! This travel guide I'm about to give is based on my own opinion and not purely a copy-paste. If there are some lacking information or whatever, please don't hesitate to comment below.

Going there:

Direct Travel from the Metro Cities:

Metro Luzon: Manila - Bohol (1 hour by plane)
Metro Visayas: Cebu - Bohol (2 hours by fastcraft boat)
Metro Mindanao: Cagayan de Oro - Bohol ( 4 - 6 hours by slow boat)

BTW, there are many routes to reach bohol either by land, sea or air. I am just showing you the easiest way here if you com from the metro cities of Luzviminda. And common sense, if you don't belong to the metro cities, then you probably have to take a couple of bus or boat rides before reaching this beautiful island. :)

4 docking areas for ships/boats: Tagbilaran City, Tubigon, Ubay, and Jagna.
1 airport: Tagbilaran City

* Whichever port you arrived at, you probably have to ride a van/bus going to wherever you're staying.(except for those arriving in Tagbilaran City(a taxi or tricycle will do))

* Most hotels/pension houses are situated in Tagbilaran City or in Panglao Island, the town where our famous beaches are located.

Arriving in Tagbilaran City:

Tricycle is the cheapest mode of public transportation in the city. Fare starts at P8.00.
If your drop off is just within the downtown area or let's say, just near landmarks like a mall or church, drivers usually asks around P8.00-P25.00 pesos. That range is fine.

* Just be careful for some drivers, when they know you are a tourist, they usually charge you big time, even almost ranging to P50-P100. It's up to you if you are kind enough or what, but it's better to know if it's that much or not.

* If your drop off is at Panglao Island, a tricycle is still fine, but drivers may charge you a fixed rate. Also, Panglao is reached by 15-20 minute car travel, but for tricycles, it may reach you up to 30 minutes to an hour (depending on how far & traffic).

* Taxis are safe since they have a meter, but just make sure you let them know you are riding only with a meter turned on. :)

* If you come in groups, vans are a better transport, especially those with large luggages. They also usually ask for a fixed rate that may amount from P250 up. A thousand pesos may be too much.

* But if you want it the hassle-free way, try to contact your hotel if they offer a shuttle service from port to hotel and vice-versa.

Tour Around Bohol

Rates for touring the island vary from the season (peak/non-peak), the type of transportation (usually vans), the route of the tour and number of guests. There is no definite rate, so I can't tell you the exact amount. It may range from P1,300 - P5,000 per transportation. So just to be sure, prepare that kind of amount just for the tour alone.

MY MUST-VISIT LIST:
(More of these on my blog)

1. Churches

2. Beaches

3. Virgin Island

4. Man-made forest

5. Chocolate Hills

6. Tarsiers

7. Loboc River

8. Danao ECO Adventure Park

9. Prony (largest captive python snake)

10. Bohol Blood Compact

* Tour guides know all these places, and usually they ask for your priority sites to visit so that they arrange the itinerary for you.

* A full 3 days vacation time in Bohol is enough to do some activities and visit the tourist spots. Just a reminder, when in vacation, you should at least be not in a "hurry". Take your time, relax! :)
